Buy Gold Coins by Country – 832 Products from 22 Nations Across Five Continents
Gold Coins by Country is CelticGold's most historically rich navigation dimension: 832 products across 22 countries, spanning gold coins from Australia's 1987 Kangaroo programme to Germany's 19th-century Imperial Goldmark, from the world's oldest continuously operating mint in Mexico (founded 1535) to the Royal Mint's 535-year Sovereign tradition. Browsing by country of issue tells you who authorised and minted the coin, what monetary and cultural tradition it carries, and how that context shapes both its current price and its long-term collector significance.
All products in this category are VAT-exempt as investment gold under the EU VAT Directive – regardless of country of origin.

FAQ
Does country of origin affect VAT status? No – all gold coins in this category are VAT-exempt under the EU Investment Gold Directive, regardless of where they were minted. The criteria are: ≥900/1,000 fineness, legal tender status, and minted after 1 April 1973 (or pre-1973 with ongoing legal tender status). Every country's coins here meet all three conditions.
Which country's coins have the best global liquidity? Australia (Kangaroo), South Africa (Krugerrand), Austria (Vienna Philharmonic) and Canada (Maple Leaf) produce the four most globally liquid investment coins. Any of these will be bought back immediately by reputable dealers worldwide.
Are historical coins (Germany Empire, Russia, France) less liquid than modern bullion? Standard historical coins like the German 20 Mark or Russian 10 Rouble are well known to European dealers and trade at or near gold spot plus a modest numismatic premium. They are liquid in the DACH market; marginally less so in non-specialist international markets. All are accepted by CelticGold: Sell precious metals.
Why does Somalia appear here – isn't it a European product? Somalia gold coins are official legal tender of the Republic of Somalia, minted under official licence by the Bavarian State Mint in Munich. They are classified by their issuing authority (Somalia), not by where they are physically struck – the same way that Noah's Ark coins (issued for Armenia, minted in Vienna) appear under Austria.
Can I filter by both country and weight simultaneously? Yes – use the filter panel on the left sidebar of any country page to narrow by weight, denomination, year of issue, fineness and condition.
