🇦🇲 Noah’s Ark 2021 – 1 oz Silver Coin – Symbol of Hope and Armenian Tradition

The Noah’s Ark 2021 – 1 oz silver coin belongs to an internationally recognized coin series that draws on one of the oldest narratives in human history. The motif of Noah’s Ark is closely connected to the biblical story of the Great Flood and also holds a special significance for Armenia. Mount Ararat, considered the landing place of the Ark, is a central symbol of Armenian culture. The coin combines this historical and cultural symbolism with a clear and precise silver minting.

The obverse shows the coat of arms of Armenia. At the center of the emblem is a shield depicting historic Armenian royal dynasties. Above the shield appears Mount Ararat with Noah’s Ark. The coat of arms is supported by an eagle and a lion, two traditional symbols of strength and dignity. Surrounding inscriptions include the issuing country Republic of Armenia, the face value of 500 Dram, and the year of issue 2021.

The reverse features the well-known Noah’s Ark motif. In the foreground a dove flies with an olive branch in its beak, a symbol of peace and hope after the Great Flood. Behind the dove the Ark appears on calm waters, while in the background Mount Ararat rises with its distinctive silhouette. The depiction conveys a calm and clear atmosphere, combining landscape and symbolism into a balanced composition.

The fine lines of the relief give the motif a distinct sculptural depth. In particular, the structure of the water surface, the form of the Ark, and the contours of the mountain are carefully executed. Light and shadow move across the coin’s surface, allowing the engraved details to stand out clearly.

Along the rim of the design side appear the inscriptions NOAH’S ARK as well as the specifications 1 oz silver and 999 fine silver. These details are harmoniously integrated into the design and fit naturally into the overall composition.

The 1 oz denomination provides a balanced surface, allowing the motif to stand out clearly. The bright silver gives the coin an even luster, while the precise engraving highlights the details of the scene. The rim forms a clean border, supporting the harmonious composition.

Noah’s Ark is among the most well-known symbols of religious tradition and represents renewal, hope, and perseverance. In connection with Mount Ararat, this motif gains a special cultural significance for Armenia.

The Noah’s Ark 2021 – 1 oz silver coin combines this symbolic history with modern coin minting. It presents the Ark as a sign of hope and tradition—struck in silver and designed with clarity, structure, and calm elegance.
