The koala is indigenous to Australia, it is a beloved marsupial celebrated for its cute appearance and distinct way of life. Sporting fluffy ears and a characteristic round face, it predominantly relaxes in eucalyptus trees, feasting on their foliage.
The reverse of the Koala 1 Kilo Silver Coin 2023 shows a koala in a forest, with its joey on its back. The coin bears the inscription 'Koala', alongside details of its weight and purity. Positioned to the left of the image is the mintmark 'P', denoting The Perth Mint and on the right are the initials 'IJ', representing the designer, Ing Ing Jong.
