Founded in 1792, the United States Mint is the official producer of the country’s legal tender coins, striking billions each year for everyday use, collectors and investors. Operating out of sites in Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco and West Point, it also safeguards national gold reserves and runs commemorative coin programmes.

The obverse of the American Buffalo 1 oz Gold Coin 2025 showcases James Earle Fraser’s iconic design, originally seen on the 1913 Type 1 Buffalo Nickel. The Native American profile is a composite of three tribal chiefs - Big Tree, Iron Tail, and Two Moons. “LIBERTY” is etched along the rim, with the year and Fraser’s initial “F” included in the detail.

The reverse of the coin features a powerful American Bison, often referred to as a buffalo, based on Fraser’s original 1913 design. Shown standing on a raised patch of earth, the animal is rendered in fine detail, highlighting its strength and stature. Surrounding the image are the inscriptions “UNITED • STATES • OF • AMERICA”, “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” along with the denomination of 50 US dollars and the specifications “1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD”.

The American Buffalo 1oz Gold Coin 2025 is crafted from 1 oz of 999.9/1000 fine gold with a metric equivalent weight of 31.10 grams. It measures 32.70 mm in diameter and has a thickness of 2.95 mm. It is only available as a 1 oz gold coin.

A timeless piece of American heritage, the 2025 1 oz Gold Buffalo offers both exceptional purity and enduring appeal for collectors and investors.
