The 1 oz Gold Krugerrand is one of the most popular and widely traded gold coins in the world. The 1996 edition was one of the yearly issues that was minted in limited quantities.
The 1 oz Krugerrand has a purity of 91.76% gold. This alloy was modeled after the English Gold Sovereign and is referred to as “Crown Gold”.
The design of the Krugerrand has remained consistent since it was first introduced in 1967. The front depicts the profile of former South African President Paul Kruger and the reverse shows the Springbok Antelope, which is one of the symbols of South Africa.
