The Krugerrand was introduced in 1967 and has been one of the most successful gold bullion coin programs in the world. It is estimated that over 50 million ounces of Gold Krugerrands have been sold since its introduction.
Here we profile the 1978 issue, which was the largest mintage year at just over 6 million coins.
