The Krugerrand is one of the best selling and most widely traded gold coins in the world. While the Krugerrand has been minted in large quantities for 50+ years, the 1969 edition had a limited mintage of just 20,000 coins.
The 1969 edition has a fineness of 916.67/1000 gold and a weight of 1 troy ounce.
Design Highlights

The front side of the coin depicts the left side portrait of Paul Kruger, who was the President of the South African Republic from 1883 to 1902. The inscriptions around the outer edge read “SUID-AFRIKA” and “SOUTH AFRICA”

The reverse side shows the Springbok Antelope, which is the national animal of South Africa. The date of issue is on either side of the antelope.
