After 10 years the obverse design of the coin has changed. The 1992 Panda Gold Coins which are 99.9 troy oz fine gold are in mint-state or brilliant uncirculated condition and sold in the original sealed packing. They are very popular with worldwide collectors and investors for the very attractive panda designs which change every year.
Several Chinese mints can produce the Panda gold coins and do not usually employ mintmarks however minor changes in size of writing, or a mintmark, occur when more than one mint is used. Panda gold coins are tax free. It should be noted that Panda gold coins are not sold domestically within China. They are only for foreign sale.
Design/Appearance
Obverse:
For the first time since 1982 the design on the obverse has changed. There remains the picture of the Hall of Prayers for Abundant Harvest in the Temple of Heaven. There is now an inner circular ring incorporating the Chinese characters "Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo", meaning People's Republic of China at the top, with the year of issue „1992“ shown at the bottom under the Temple design within this new ring.
Reverse:
One single playful panda climbing a tree branch on all paws with other branches to the left. Directly above the head of the panda are the nominal value 100 and symbol for Yuan. Above this around the edge of the coin is shown metric purity „.999“, “Au and 1 oz.“.

A total of 41,120 coins were minted.
The 1992 1 oz coin has 32mm diameter.
