Design
The front side of the coin depicts a Lunar Tiger leaping through a grass field. The Chinese character for tiger is engraved above the motif. On the bottom of the coin is the fine weight and purity inscripted as “1 OZ 9999 GOLD”. The year of issue “1998” is engraved vertically on the left portion of the coin. There is also an ornamental circle of dots around the outer edge of both sides of the coin, which adds to the beauty of the design.
The reverse side depicts the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as a young women. The design of the Queen was created by artist and engraver Raphael Maklouf. The engravings around the outer edge are the name of the regent “ELIZABETH II”, the country of origin, “AUSTRALIA” and the nominal value of “100 DOLLARS”
