PAMP
PAMPs (Pathogen-Associated Molecular Patterns) are structural features commonly found on pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, or fungi. They are absent in host cells and are recognized by the innate immune system. Specialized receptors called PRRs (Pattern Recognition Receptors) detect PAMPs and trigger an immune response. Examples of PAMPs include lipopolysaccharides (LPS) on gram-negative bacteria or viral RNA. These mechanisms are essential for initiating a rapid and effective defense against infections.
