Dutch 10 Guilder gold coins depicting Queen Wilhelmina are traded as investment coins. Depending on the year, well-preserved pieces can also be interesting for collectors.
Dutch Guilders have a long history that dates back to the 16th century. The first guilder was issued in 1680 as a silver coin. The Gold Guilder was first introduced in 1818 by the Royal Dutch Mint.
10 Dutch Guilder gold coins have a rich history and are an excellent addition to a precious metals portfolio.
Fine Weight, Fine Content and Alloy
The coins have a fine weight of 6.05g and a fineness of 900/1000. The gold coins were produced in a gold copper alloy - the components are 90% gold and 10% copper. The 10 Guilder Wilhelmina has a good scratch resistance and golden reddish color due to its high copper content.
Appearance
The Dutch 10 Guilder gold coin Wilhelmina has an edge bar and a rippled edge. Both sides of the coin are decorated with an ornamental circle.
The front shows the profile of the Dutch Queen Wilhelmina. The inscription is "Koningin Wilhelmina God Zij Met Ons".
On the reverse is the coat of arms of the "Kingdom of the United Netherlands" - the representation contains a shield and crown. The nominal value is stamped on the left and right of the motif. The year of issue is engraved below the motif. The inscription on the edge is: Koninggrijk der Nederlanden.
Versions
The 10 Guilder Wilhelmina is available in four versions. This is due, firstly, to the long reign of Wilhelmina, and secondly to the multiple versions of the motif. Wilhelmina was Queen of the United Netherlands from 1890 to 1948. 10 Guilder gold coins are also available with the image of Wilhelm and Wilhelm III as the motif.
