The stone statues named the Queen’s Beasts stood guard at the coronation of Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey in England in 1953. The Queen’s Beasts White Lion of Mortimer is the seventh of the ten mythical beasts in the collection produced by the British Royal Mint.
The Queen’s Beasts White Lion of Mortimer ¼ oz Gold Coin 2020 presents the image of the lion on the reverse surrounded by the name and the year of issue. In front of the lion is a shield displaying the “white rose-en-soleil”.
The obverse of the coin displays Jody Clark’s portrait of Elizabeth II together with the face value of the coin which is 25 pounds.
The Queen’s Beasts White Lion of Mortimer ¼ oz Gold Coin 2020 contains ¼ troy ounce of fine gold with 999.9/1000 purity. It has a diameter of 22.00 mm and a thickness of 1.60 mm. The metric weight of the coin is 7.78 grams. It is also available as a 1oz gold coin and a 2oz silver coin.
