The China Panda 30g gold coin is available now. The motif is a panda sitting on a tree branch. The reverse motif of the coin shows the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Since 2016, the Peoples Republic of China denominates their gold coins no longer in ounces, but in grams.
Fine weight, fineness and nominal value
With the new orientation of the Panda gold coins to the gram standard, also the fine weight changed. The new China Panda 30g gold coin is the counterpart to the previous 1oz coin with a fine weight of 31.103 g. The current China Panda has a fine weight of 30.00 g. The conversion is so unlike ounces now much easier. The fineness has remained the same and is 999/1000 with a nominal value of 500 yuan.
Sizes from 2016
The China Panda 2016 gold coins are issued in nine different sizes. In the past, there was a total of five in (troy-) ounces: 1oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz, 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz. The new weights up to 30g are issued in uncirculated, mint-state condition. Above 30g the mint offers the highest quality called proof.

Appearance
The China Panda 30 g in gold features as many other gold coins the rippled edge and edge bar. The edge bar is on the reverse of the coin is wider than ordinary bullion coins. The edge bar has two purposes
- + it protects the motives from damage and
- + the stackability is improved.
The obverse of the gold coin shows a panda sitting on a branch and clings to it. In the background is in various levels bamboo and bamboo leaves. Below is the nominal value of 500 yuan imprinted. Around the bottom Edge side the fine weight of 30 g, the elements sign for Gold "Au" and the standard of fineness "999" can be seen.
As usual the reverse shows the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The reverse of the coin has a very wide margin bar, in the bottom the year of issue and on the upper part in Chinese characters stand for "Temple of Heaven".
