The Chilean 100 Pesos gold coin is the largest of the Liberty gold coin series. The 100 Peso gold coin has a fine weight of 18.30g and a fineness of 900/1000. The gold coin is traded as bullion coin and is exempt from VAT in Europe. 100 Pesos gold coins have a fineness of 900/1000. The alloy consists of 90% gold and 10% copper. The copper content provides good scratch resistance, since copper unlike gold is a harder metal. With the fine weight of 18.30g the coin is slightly heavier than half an ounce (15.55g). Chilean Pesos 100 gold coins have an edge bar and a rippled edge. On both sides an ornamental circle is imprinted around the edge bar. The front shows the Goddess of Liberty, with a floral wreath in her hair. The profile of the motive shows to the left which is unusual. Below the motive a five-pointed star can be seen. The star is a central element of the Chilean coat of arms. The year of issue is at the bottom of the coin and the words "Republica de Chile" is imprinted above the motive. The Chilean coat of arms is the motif of the back. In the center it shows a shield with star. An Andean Stag is pictured on the left side of the shield and on the right side of the shield an Andean Condor is depicted. Above the shield three springs can be seen.
