Design
The Lunar II series by the Perth Mint are beautiful, high purity coins with exceptional quality. Since 2013 the Lunar II series have been designed by Ing Ing Jong. Ing graduated from Perth’s Central TAFE school of art and design in 2006. One of Ing’s biggest inspirations is Disney.
On the front of the Lunar II Dog, Ing choose to feature the Labrador Retriever as the main motif. The labrador is a beloved dog across the most of the world and is depicted standing on a bed of rocks. The additional artwork on the front of the coin includes the Chinese character for dog as well as the inscription “Year of the Dog”
The reverse side depicts the iconic image of Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait of the queen was designed in 1997 by Ian Rank Broadley. Embossed on the outer edge of the coin are the words “Queen Elizabeth II” “Australia” “15 Dollars” “2018” and “1/10oz 9999 Gold”
