The Gold Kangaroo coins are some of the most popular bullion coins in the world. The beautiful annually changing Kangaroo designs add to the appeal of the series. Originally known as the ‘Gold Nugget’ the first design of the coin featured images of gold nuggets from 1986-1989. In 1989 the design changed to depict the Kangaroo which made it more symbolic of a product of Australia. Perth Mint guarantees that each coin contains the stated gold purity and weight stamped on the piece.
This 2011 coin features a sitting left facing Kangaroo, with sun rays behind it.
Inscribed around the edge of the coin is ‘The Australian Kangaroo’. Along with the year, denomination, and purity.
