The front side design for 2003 depicts a kangaroo drinking from a stream with the Australian wilderness in the background. The inscriptions include the name of the coin, date of issue, fine weight and purity.
The reverse side shows the right side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a royal diadem. The design was created by artist and engraver Ian Rank-Broadley.
