Security Hologram
The special feature of Heraeus Kinebar gold bars is the security hologram on the back. It shows, depending on the viewing angle, a three-dimensional hologram, each with different representations and colors. Gold Kinebars from Argor-Heraeus are also called hologram bars. The hologram is intended to make forgery more difficult.
Manufacturer
20g Kinebars are manufactured by Argor-Heraeus in Switzerland. Argor-Heraeus is owned by Heraeus in Germany. Heraeus is one of the largest precious metals service providers in the world. Argor-Heraeus is a high quality Swiss refiner with an excellent reputation.
The patent for Kinebar was developed by the Swiss OVD Kinegram AG and is also used for banknotes. Kinebar Gold Bars are available in the weights of 1g, 2g, 5g, 10g, 20g and 1oz.
Making Gold Bars
The manufacture of the Kinebar is, apart from the application of the hologram, no different than conventional gold bars. First, gold sheets and plates are rolled to a specific size and thickness. Thereafter, the blanks for the 20g gold bars are punched out and then embossed by hydraulic press. The embossing imprints important data such as fine weight, fineness, precious metal and manufacturer.
Tax
Gold bars are exempt from VAT if they have a purity of at least 995/1000.
