🇦🇲 Noah’s Ark 2021 – 1/4 oz Silver Coin – Biblical Motif with Mount Ararat

The Noah’s Ark 2021 – 1/4 oz silver coin belongs to an internationally recognized coin series that draws on one of the oldest narratives in human history. The motif of Noah’s Ark is closely connected to the biblical story of the Great Flood and also holds a special cultural significance for Armenia. Mount Ararat, traditionally regarded as the landing place of the Ark, is a central symbol of Armenian history and therefore appears as an important element in the design of this coin. The silver issue combines religious symbolism with a calm, clearly structured visual language.

The obverse shows the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia. At the center is a shield divided into several fields, depicting historic Armenian royal dynasties. Above the shield appears Mount Ararat with Noah’s Ark. The shield is supported by an eagle and a lion, two traditional heraldic symbols representing strength, dignity, and protection in Armenian heraldry. Beneath the emblem appear additional ornamental elements that frame the coat of arms. Surrounding inscriptions include Republic of Armenia, the face value of 100 Dram, as well as the weight and fineness of the precious metal. The design appears calm and balanced.

The reverse features the well-known Noah’s Ark motif. In the foreground a dove flies with an olive branch in its beak. This symbol represents peace, hope, and the end of the flood. Behind the dove the Ark appears on calm waters. The vessel is shown in a clear side view and appears massive and stable, recalling traditional depictions of the Ark in religious narratives.

In the background rises Mount Ararat with its characteristic silhouette. The two peaks of the mountain massif are clearly visible and illuminated by a rising sun. The sun’s rays spread across the sky, giving the scene a calm and symbolic atmosphere. The surrounding landscape is intentionally kept minimal, allowing the main elements—dove, Ark, and mountain—to stand out clearly.

The fine engraved lines give the motif a distinct sculptural depth. In particular, the structure of the water surface, the contours of the Ark, and the shape of the mountain are carefully modeled. The wings of the dove and the small olive branch are also clearly defined. Light moves across the silver surface, highlighting the different levels of the relief.

Along the rim of the design side appear the inscriptions NOAH’S ARK as well as the specifications 1/4 oz silver and 999 fine silver. These details are harmoniously integrated into the coin design.

The 1/4 oz denomination offers a compact surface, yet the motif remains clearly recognizable. The bright silver gives the coin a calm luster, while the precise engraving highlights the details of the depiction. The rim forms a clean border that completes the design.

The depiction of Noah’s Ark is one of the most recognized motifs of religious tradition. In combination with Mount Ararat, the image gains a special cultural meaning for Armenia.

The Noah’s Ark 2021 – 1/4 oz silver coin combines this symbolism with modern coin minting, presenting the biblical scene in a calm and balanced silver depiction.
