🇸🇴 Somalia Elephant 2018 – 1 oz Silver Coin – African Nature Motif in Calm Design

The Somalia Elephant 2018 – 1 oz silver coin belongs to a well-known series of modern silver issues that depict the elephant as a central symbol of African wildlife. For many years, this motif has been struck in changing designs, combining nature-inspired imagery with clear, structured design. The 2018 issue continues this tradition and presents the elephant in a calm, balanced composition that emphasizes precision, form, and the effect of the material.

The obverse shows the coat of arms of Somalia, consisting of a shield with a star flanked by two leopards. The depiction is clearly contoured and objectively executed. The line work remains calm and orderly, creating a harmonious overall impression. Around the edge appear the issuing country, the denomination, and the year of issue 2018. The lettering integrates evenly into the surface and leaves the silver enough space to unfold its bright, calm appearance.

The reverse shows the elephant as the central motif of the series. The animal is depicted in a natural posture, calm and confident. Its powerful body, the characteristic trunk, and the finely modeled skin textures are carefully executed. The composition is deliberately simple: the background recedes so that the elephant stands out clearly as the central image. This design avoids dramatic movement or narrative scenes, focusing instead on the pure presence of the animal.

The lines of the relief are precisely guided, each contour clearly defined. Light and shadow glide calmly across the surface, giving the motif subtle sculptural depth without creating strong contrasts. Integrated into the reverse are the inscriptions 1 oz weight and 999 silver, discreetly and clearly executed. These details integrate harmoniously into the overall composition.

The 1 oz denomination provides sufficient space to display the details of the elephant motif clearly. The silver appears in a bright, cool luster that highlights the precision of the minting. The surface looks even and calm, and the relief heights are clearly defined without appearing exaggerated. The cleanly finished rim integrates unobtrusively into the overall design and gives the coin a clear visual conclusion.

In its visual language, the Somalia Elephant series combines natural representation with modern minting techniques. The elephant stands as a symbol of strength, endurance, and composure. The 2018 issue preserves this symbolism in a calm, objective depiction, consistently continuing the character of the series.

The Somalia Elephant 2018 – 1 oz silver coin unites a nature motif, clear design, and the quiet presence of silver. It presents the elephant as a powerful yet calm image of African wildlifestruck in silver and designed with structure, precision, and restrained elegance.
