The Perth Mint is located in Perth, Western Australia. It was founded in 1899 and is one of the oldest mints in the world. It is the official bullion mint of Australia and was originally a branch of the British Royal Mint that was created to refine gold from the region’s gold rushes. Today, the Perth Mint is renowned for producing a wide range of high-quality bullion coins, bars, and other precious metal products, including the internationally recognised Australian Kangaroo, Koala and Kookaburra coin series.

The Silver Kookaburra coin was introduced in 1990 and quickly gained popularity for its annually changing reverse design displaying the Kookaburra bird, famous for its endearing and very distinctive laughing call. The Kookaburra 1oz Silver Coin 2024 was designed by Sean Rogers and showcases a single Kookaburra mid-flight clutching an unfortunate snake in its sharp claws. The coin features the P125 mintmark celebrating 125 years of the Perth Mint. The name ‘KOOKABURRA’ is displayed to the right and underlined, with a smaller inscription to the left including the year of issue and the coin’s weight and purity.

The obverse, created by Dan Thorne, displays a low relief portrait of His Majesty King Charles III together with the inscription ‘CHARLES III AUSTRALIA ᐧ 1 DOLLAR ᐧ ’. The coin is recognised as legal tender in Australia and has a face value of one Australian Dollar.

The Kookaburra 1oz Silver Coin 2024 contains one troy ounce of 999.9/1000 fine silver and measures 40.60 mm in diameter. It is also available in weights of 1 Kilo and 10oz in silver and 1/10 oz in fine gold.

Limited to just 500,000 pieces, this coin is valued for its outstanding craftsmanship, high purity and stunning design, making it a prized choice for both investors and collectors.
