The koala, native to Australia, is an iconic marsupial renowned for its adorable appearance and unique lifestyle. With its fluffy ears and distinctive round face, the koala spends most of its time lounging in eucalyptus trees, munching on their leaves. Despite its cute exterior, koalas are solitary creatures, except during mating season, and communicate through vocalisations and scent markings.

The reverse of the coin displays the koala climbing a tree in the gum tree forest with its young joey clinging to its back. It is inscribed with the word ‘Koala’, alongside the coin's weight and purity. The letter 'P' serves as the mintmark of The Perth Mint and is displayed to the left of the image. The initials of the designer, Ing Ing Jong, are shown as ‘IJ’, hidden in the bark of the tree on the right.

On the obverse, Jody Clark’s Queen Elizabeth II Memorial is featured. The legend is inscribed with the words ‘ELIZABETH II 1952-2022’ and ‘AUSTRALIA’ plus the denomination written as ‘1 DOLLAR’. The coin is legal tender in Australia.

To enhance security, the coin incorporates a micro laser-engraved authentication feature, detectable only through a microscope or magnifying glass. This additional layer of security undoubtedly offers peace of mind for investors, ensuring the authenticity and integrity of the coin.

The Koala 1oz Silver Coin 2023 is minted from 1 troy ounce of 999.9 fine silver with a metric weight of 31.10 grams. It measures 40.60 mm in diameter and has a thickness of 4.00 mm. The 2023 Koala bullion coin is also available as a 1oz and 1/10 oz in gold and 1 kilo in silver.

As a cherished emblem of Australia, the koala graces the coin with its timeless charm, captivating collectors and investors alike.
