The Bayerisches Hauptmünzamt (Bavarian State Mint), located in Munich, is one of the oldest still-operating mints in Germany. Officially established in 1871, its origins date back to the 12th century.
Today, the mint is responsible for producing German circulation, commemorative, and collector coins on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Finance. Coins minted in Munich bear the mint mark “D”.

The Somalia Elephant 1/10oz Gold Coin 2023 is 99.99% pure and has a diameter of 20.00 mm with a metric weight of 3.11g. The Bavarian Mint showcases its expertise with this beautiful design and skilled craftsmanship that make the elephant look as if it is standing in front of you with its ear overlapping the edge of the coin.
On the motif side you can see an elephant reaching up to a branch with its trunk with the sun and an African landscape in the background. The inscription reads "AFRICAN WILDLIFE" "ELEPHANT" and "1/10 oz Au 999.9".
The reverse shows the official Somalian coat of arms. Also displayed are the country of origin "SOMALIA REPUBLIC", the year of issue with "20" to the left and "23" to the right of the coat of arms, and a decorative circle made of dots inside the edge. The denomination "100 SHILLINGS" is displayed at the bottom.
