The Somalia Elephant Gold Coin has displayed a new motif every year since its debut in 2010. The 2022 edition features a beautifully designed elephant with her calf.

The “Somalia Elephant” gold coin is part of the “African Wildlife” series which was introduced in 1998. At the beginning of the series, the coins were only available in silver. However, since 2010 the series' portfolio has been expanded to include gold coins. Up until 2016, the gold coins had a purity of 99.9% gold but in 2016 the purity was increased to 99.99%, making the 2022 Somalia Elephant 1 oz Gold Coin one of the purest gold coins on the market.

The motif side of the Somalia Elephant 1 oz gold coin 2022 shows an elephant cow wandering through the African savannah with her young in the afternoon sun. The background has a smooth surface and shows the features typical of the African savannah with birds, umbrella acacias and mountains. In the foreground the grassy landscape is depicted very finely and vividly. The inscriptions on the outer edge read "AFRICAN WILDLIFE", "ELEPHANT" and "1 oz Au 999.9". The edge is fluted and the edge bar is slightly raised.

The value side shows the Somali coat of arms, which has been the official coat of arms since 1956. The image is framed on the left and right by the numbers “20” and “22”, which together make up the year “2022”. The country “SOMALI REPUBLIC” is displayed at the top with the face value “1000 SHILLINGS” shown along the bottom edge.

A must for every collector, but also a viable investment opportunity. Due to the excellent minting quality and the annually changing motifs, older years usually have an increase in value above the gold price.
