The motif on the obverse shows the famous Musikverein Pipe Organ of the Vienna Music Association, which can be found in the Golden Hall in Vienna. The reverse displays a number of musical instruments with a cello at the centre.
Both sides of the coin were designed by Thomas Pesendorfer in 1989 and have remained unchanged ever since.
