The Gold Panda is the official gold coin of the People’s Republic of China and was first introduced in 1982. In 2016 the China Mint changed the measurement system of the Panda from ounces to grams. The ¼ oz size was replaced with this 8 gram Gold Panda.
The 2019 China Panda 8 gram gold coin has a purity of .999 gold and a nominal value of 100 Yuan.
The China Panda gold coin is available in 30g, 15g, 8g, 3g and 1g weights.
The new design for 2019 depicts a mother panda comforting her cub with a mountain setting in the background. The engravings include the nominal value, fine weight and purity.
The reverse side shows the famous Temple of Heaven and the Hall of Prayer of Abundant Harvests located in Beijing. The inscription on the top outer edge is in Chinese characters and reads “PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA”. The date of issue “2019” is on the bottom.
