The 1 gram China Gold Panda is the smallest weight gold coin in the Panda series. It was introduced in 1983. The Gold Panda series comes in 9 different sizes which include 1 kg, 150g, 100g, 50g, 30g, 15g, 8g, 3g and 1g.

The number of different sizes and weights give investors flexibility and varying price points to choose from. With sizes above 30g the mint offers investors the highest quality called proof.

Weight & Size

The 1g China Gold Panda is ideal for anyone looking for a name brand coin at a flexible price point. The key dimensions for the coin are listed below.

History

The Peoples Republic of China started minting the Panda in 1982. China has several mints that produce these coins, which include locations in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenyang. Gold Pandas are legal tender in the Peoples Republic of China. As of 2016 the weight system of measurement in troy ounces is being replaced with the metric system of grams. The new version of the 1/20 oz Gold Panda is now the 1 gram Gold Panda.

Advantages

Western Gold investors who are used to buying gold coins denominated in ounces should not be turned off by the gram metric system. China Gold Panda’s are high quality gold coins with a beautiful design and a high level of purity.

Current year Pandas have good global brand recognition and are typically bought and sold at reputable precious metals dealers around the world. The Panda is a popular choice for collectors as well as investors.

It should be noted that the 1 gram Panda will carry a higher premium because of its small size. The smallest weight coins will typically carry the highest premium due to higher production costs to mint the coin.
