The design of the panda on the obverse has changed back to annual changing designs after 2001 and 2002 with the same design. The 1/4oz China Panda from 2003 has a high purity of 999.
Design/Appearance
Obverse:
Showing the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvest within the Temple of Heaven with Chinese characters on top meaning “People's Republic of China”. Year of issue “2003“ is shown at the base in large numerals. The wider outer ring continues.
Reverse:
Inside a bamboo forest a single panda is eating away on bamboo. At the base beside the panda are characters displaying the value “100” and Yuan sign. Above the panda are characters for size, metal and purity: ¼ oz, Au, .999.
