The China Panda 1/2oz Gold Coin is made from 99.9 fine gold and shows the same motif as the previous edition 2001. The China Panda coins will have annually changing motifs again from 2003 onwards.
Design/Appearance
The Obverse:
The Hall of Prayers for Abundant harvest In the Temple of Heaven is shown. Design shown with Chinese characters reading on the top on a widened edge bar “People's Republic of China”. The year of issue “2002” is shown at the bottom.
Reverse:
With the same design as 2001 is a panda walking on all four paws through a bamboo grove. All minting details are then shown above the panda. Chinese characters display size and metal ,”1/2 oz, Au” and purity ”.999”. At the base next to the left front paw are the numbers “200” and sign for Yuan.
