The 1/4 oz 1/4oz Panda 1997 is issued in mint state - brilliant uncirculated condition made from 999/1000 pure gold. Produced in several Chinese mints but no mintmarks. The variation in this year 1997 is the two sizes of date. Minor variations in size of date and wording identify the actual mint.
Design/Appearance
Obverse:
The Abundant Harvest Hall in the Temple of Heaven with Chinese characters reading on top. Meaning People's Republic of China. The year of issue „1997“is shown at the bottom. Small date coins show black background.
Reverse:
A single panda standing on a log surveying his environment. Under the Panda motif the value of 25 Yuan can be read. Above the panda head characters display size, 1/4OZ Au , and metric purity „..999“ Small date coin has black background.
