Maple Leaf 1/2oz Gold Coin 2020
Royal Canadian Mint
The Royal Canadian Mint is one of the largest and most popular issuers of high-quality gold and silver coins.
The Royal Canadian Mint launched the Maple Leaf Coin in 1979, establishing it as one of the purest gold coins in the world. The reverse side of the Maple Leaf ½ oz Gold Coin 2020 showcases the iconic maple leaf, originally designed by Canadian artist Walter Ott. Over time, the design has been slightly modified to include modern security features, such as micro-engraving, enhancing both the coin’s aesthetic and its defence against counterfeiting.
On the obverse, the Maple Leaf ½ oz Gold Coin 2020 features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, created by Canadian artist Susanna Blunt. This effigy, used since 2003, offers a more contemporary image of the Queen, depicted without a crown. Alongside the portrait are the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II”, “25 DOLLARS” and the year of issue “2020.” Both sides of the coin incorporate finely engraved radial lines, adding an extra security measure to the design.
The Maple Leaf ½ oz Gold Coin 2020 contains half a troy ounce of fine gold with a purity of 999.9/1000 which equates to a metric weight of 15.55 grams. The coin is 25.00 mm in diameter and has a thickness of 2.23 mm. It is also available in weights of 1 oz, ¼ oz, 1/10 oz and 1/20 oz in gold plus a MapleGram 25 x 1g gold pack and 1 oz in silver.
The Maple Leaf ½ oz Gold Coin 2020 combines a rich design history with cutting-edge security features. Its blend of aesthetic beauty, purity and innovation makes it a popular choice for both collectors and investors.
