Design
The motif side of the coin depicts the various instruments of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which include the bassoon, harp, flute, cello (in the center) and 4 violins. The inscription on the top outer margin is in German and reads “WIENER PHILHARMONIKER”. Thomas Pesendorfer, the chief engraver of the Austrian Mint, created the design on both sides of the coin.
The value side depicts the pipe organ in the famous Wiener Musikverein, which is the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The engraving on the top outer edge is the country of origin “REPUBLIK OSTERREICH”. The bottom portion of the coin shows the fine weight and purity “1 UNZE GOLD 999.9”, the year of issue “2019” and the face value of “100 EURO”.
