The 2011 Lunar Rabbit ¼ oz gold coin is the fourth release in the Lunar II series from the Perth Mint. Each year represents one of the 12 animals in the ancient Chinese Lunar Calendar.
According to the Chinese zodiac, “Rabbit” personalities are said to be wise and well respected. The birth years of the Lunar Rabbit are 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999 and 2011.
The 2011 Lunar II Rabbit ¼ oz gold coin has a purity of 99.99% gold and a declared mintage of 11,101 coins.
The motif side of the coin depicts a Rabbit next to a cabbage and a pot. The phrase “YEAR OF THE RABBIT” is engraved below the motif. The Chinese character for rabbit can be seen on the top portion of the coin.
The value side depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
