Design
The motif side of the coin depicts an Ox lying on piece of grass with bamboo leaves above. The Chinese character for Ox can be seen on the top portion of the coin. On the bottom outer edge is the inscription “Year of the Ox”. The Perth Mints signature “P” mint mark is in the upper left near the edge.
The value side shows the portrait of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The design was created by artist and engraver Ian Rank-Broadley. The inscriptions on the outer edge are the name of the regent “ELIZABETH II”, the country of origin “AUSTRALIA”, the face value of “100 DOLLARS”, the year of issue “2009” and the fine weight and purity of “1 oz 9999 GOLD”.
