Design
The new design features a kangaroo standing on a grass mound. Behind the kangaroo are two trees that bend along the edge of the coin. The rising sun can be seen in the background. The engravings include “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO”, “2019 1/2 OZ 9999 GOLD” and the letter “P”, which stands for the Perth Mint.
The reverse side shows the new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The initials “JC” can be seen on the right shoulder of the Queen and represent Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark. The inscriptions include “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and “50 DOLLARS”.
