The Dragon and Tiger gold coin is a new 2019 release from the Perth Mint. The coin features the Dragon and the Tiger, two of the most powerful animals in Chinese culture. The Dragon has long been a symbol of power and wealth and the Tiger represents bravery, strength and protection over human life.
When the two animals are paired together, they represent natural balance, interdependence and feng shui. The Dragon is the “yang” (male) energy and the Tiger is the “yin” (female) energy.

Design
The motif side of the coin depicts a detailed representation of a dragon and a tiger in pursuit of a flaming pearl. The design is meant to be a metaphor for wisdom and enlightenment. The Perth Mints traditional “P” mint mark is on the right edge.
The value side shows the right side portrait of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The design was created by artist and engraver Jody Clark and shows the queen with a royal crown, earring and necklace.
The engravings on the outer edge are the name of the regent “ELIZABETH II”, the country of origin “AUSTRALIA”, the face value “100 DOLLARS”, the year of issue “2019”, and the fine weight and purity “1oz 9999 Au”.
