The 2018 Kangaroo gold coins have arrived. The 1/10 oz kangaroo in gold from the Perth Mint is the smallest size in the series. The Kangaroo gold coin was originally released as the “Gold Nugget” in 1986. However, in 1989 the design changed to feature kangaroos, which is a more recognizable symbol for Australia.

Design
The new 2018 design features two kangaroos jumping in the outback with an image of the sun in the background. The design was created by Neil Hollis and celebrates Australia’s best known animal. The inscriptions on the front side read:

The reverse depicts the iconic image of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The portrait of the Queen was designed by artist Ian Rank Broadley. His initials can be seen under the motif of the Queen. Along the outer edge of the coin the words “Elizabeth II” “Australia” and “15 Dollars” are embossed.
