Perth Mint
The Perth Mint is one of the world’s most renowned precious metal mints. This high quality 1/2oz of .9999 gold, is the 1987 Gold Nugget Coin. Published by the prestigious Perth Mint. They came into circulation when Australia decided to produce their own gold coins, due to the import ban on the South African Krugerrand.
Design/Appearance
Coins made in 1987, depending on the denomination, feature a different famous nugget. The name of the nugget is inscribed under the image, along with the date found, on the reverse of the coin.
This 1/2oz coin features the nugget ‘Hand of Faith’ which was found by a metal detector in 1980 in Kingower, Victoria.
The obverse features a right facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
