In the Chinese Lunar Calendar, 2007 celebrates the “Year of the Pig” and is the final edition in the Lunar I Gold coin series from the Perth Mint. The series began in 1996 with the “Year of the Mouse”.
The Lunar Pig ¼ oz gold coin has a fineness of .9999 gold and a limited mintage of 6,486 coins.
The design on the front side features a young Pig standing on a field of mud. The engravings include the year of issue “2007”, the fine weight and purity “¼ OZ 9999 GOLD” and the Chinese character for Pig.
The reverse side shows the right side portrait of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The inscriptions surrounding the outer edge are “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA”, and “25 DOLLARS”.
