The 2007 Lunar Pig ½ oz Gold coin is the 12th and final edition of the Lunar I Gold coin series from the renowned Perth Mint. The Lunar I Gold coin series was the first bullion coin program to feature the 12 animals of the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
All of the Lunar Gold coins are 24 karat gold (.9999) and are considered legal tender in Australia.
The 2007 Lunar Pig ½ oz Gold coin has a purity of 99.99% gold and a limited mintage of 7,694 coins.
The front side of the “Year of the Pig” gold coin features a young pig standing in the mud. The engravings include the year of issue “2007”, the fine weight and purity “½ OZ 9999 GOLD” and the Chinese character for Pig.
The reverse side shows the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II with crown. he inscriptions around the outer edge read “ELIZABETH II”, AUSTRALIA”, and “50 DOLLARS”.
