Perth Mint
The Perth Mint is one of the world’s most renowned precious metal mints. The Perth Mint was the first Mint to produce a gold coin series modeled after the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The Lunar I Gold coin program was so popular that the Perth Mint introduced the Lunar II Gold coin series in 2008. The series is available in both gold and silver.
The 2004 Lunar Monkey ½ oz gold coin is 99.99% pure gold and has a limited mintage of 4,228 coins.

The front side depicts a Monkey climbing on a tree branch. The engravings include the year of issue, fine weight, purity, and the Chinese character for Monkey.

The reverse side shows the right side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as a mature regent. The image of the Queen was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The inscriptions are “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and “50 DOLLARS”.
