The ¼ oz Dragon Gold coin is the fifth release in the Lunar Gold coin series from the Perth Mint. The series was introduced in 1996 and consists of 12 unique coin designs from the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
The Chinese Dragon is one of the oldest and most powerful symbols in the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
The year 2000 Lunar Dragon ¼ oz coin is 99.99% pure gold and has a mintage of 20,148 coins.
The front side of the coins depicts a flying Chinese Dragon with flaming pearl. The flaming pearl is often displayed with the Chinese Dragon and is a symbol of spiritual power.
The engravings on the front side include the year of issue, fine weight, purity and the Chinese character for dragon.
The reverse side shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with crown. The inscriptions around the outer edge are “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and “25 DOLLARS”.
