The Lunar Gold coin series is one of the most popular bullion coin programs of the Perth Mint. The series celebrates the 12 year Chinese Lunar Calendar, with each year depicting a new animal design.
The 1998 ”Year of the Tiger” is the third coin in the series. All of the gold coins in the Lunar series have a purity of 99.99% gold and are backed by the Australian Government.

The reverse side shows the right side profile of Queen Elizabeth II with crown, earring and necklace. The inscriptions around the outer edge are “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA” and “25 DOLLARS”.
