The front side of the coin depicts the left side portrait of Paul Kruger, the former President of the South African Republic. The inscriptions around the outer edge are “SUID-AFRIKA” and “SOUTH AFRICA”

The reverse side shows the South African Springbok Antelope. The year of issue is embossed on either side of the motif. The fine weight is engraved on the bottom outer edge.
