The 2017 China Panda 15 g gold coin is available! The 2017 edition is the newest design that features another representation of the giant China panda bear. The China Panda is one of the few bullion coins that feature annual design changes. However, the reverse side of the coin will always depict at least one white or black panda.

In 2016, the China Panda gold coin series was changed from ounces to the gram metric system. The 15 g Gold Panda corresponds to .53 ounces of pure .999 gold. The Panda is the only bullion coin on the market that is measured in grams.
The coin is available in 5 standard sizes which include 30 g, 15 g, 8 g, 3 g and 1 g. Higher weight proof editions are also available in 50 g, 100 g, 150 g and 1 kilo sizes.

Appearance
The motif of the reverse side shows a panda sitting in the grass holding a bamboo tube in his hands. Bamboo plants can be seen in the background. Under the right front paw, the nominal value of 200 yuan is stamped. The weight, metal and fine content are imprinted at the very bottom of the edge bar.
The front of the 2017 China Panda 15 g gold coin shows the hall of prayer for abundant harvest in the famous Temple of Heaven. Above the motif are the Chinese characters for "People's Republic of China". The embossing year 2017 can be seen at the bottom of the border.
History
The Chinese Gold Panda was first released in 1982 in four sizes which included 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz and 1/10 oz. In 1983 the fractional 1/20 oz coin size was introduced. The Panda is minted in Shenzhen, Shenyang, and Shanghai.
In 2016 the Chinese Mint changed the weighting system of the panda from ounces to grams. The Gold Panda is one of the most uniquely designed bullion product on the market today and has global appeal.
