The Chinese Gold Panda coins are 999 fine gold and were first introduced in 1982 by the Peoples Republic of China. In 2016 the metric weight system was changed from ounces to grams. The Panda Gold Coin Series comes in 4 fractional coin sizes which include:

- 1/4 oz is now a 8 gram coin
- 1/10 oz is now a 3 gram coin
- 1/20 oz is now a 1 gram coin

History
China issued it’s first design with an image of a Panda in 1982. At that time, the coin sizes included 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz of 999 fine gold. In 1983 the 1/20 oz coin was also added.
An interesting fact about the Panda is that the design varies every year. However, in 2001 China decided to stop the yearly design changes, and as a result the 2001 and 2002 Panda coin designs are the same.
Due to customers preferring the annual design changes, China went back to its original policy of design changes the following year.
