The China Panda Gold Coin of ½ troy oz is made from pure 99.9 fine gold. The motif designs are different for each year, except the 2001 and 2002 edition. The design of the Temple of Heaven on obverse has changed for the first time since 1982.
Design/Appearance
The Obverse:
In the Temple of Heaven is a Hall of Prayers for Abundant Harvest. The design is shown with Chinese characters reading on the top on a widened edge bar “People's Republic of China”. The year of issue “2001” is shown at the bottom.
Reverse:
A Panda bear is walking on all four paws through a bamboo grove. All minting details are then shown above the panda. Chinese characters display size ,”1/2 oz, Au” and purity ”.999”. At the base next to the left front paw are the nominal value “200” and the sign for Yuan.
