The 2001 Panda Gold Coin here is in brilliant uncirculated quality and sold in the original sealed packing. An interesting aspect of China Panda gold coins ist, that they are not sold domestically within China and are only minted for foreign sale. They are most popular to worldwide collectors and investors for the very attractive panda designs.
Several Chinese mints can produce the Panda gold coins. This issue has some coins marked with a “D” for internal usage within China. Chinese mints usually do not employ mintmarks. Minor changes in size of writing occur when more than one mint is used. Available in sizes of 1, 1/2, 1/4, and 1/10 troy oz. 99.9 troy oz fine gold coins.
Design/Appearance
The Obverse:
With a widened edge bar is shown the picture of the Hall of Prayers for Abundant Harvest in the Temple of Heaven. Chinese characters are shown at the top reading "Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo" meaning People's Republic of China. The year of issue “2001 “is shown at the base under the Temple design.
Reverse:
One adult Panda walking through a bamboo grove on all four paws. Showing below the panda motif are shown the figures 500 and sign for Yuan. Above the panda head are shown characters incorporating size and purity “1oz, Au” and “.999”. The coin does not have a raised defined edge as in previous year editions.
