The China Panda ½ oz gold coin from 1993 is made of 99.9 fine gold. The design of the surround of the Temple of Heaven on obverse changed in 1992.Chinese mints do not hallmark however in some years there are minor variations in design, such as size of the date, to identify the mint in China. Panda gold coins are tax free.
Design/Appearance
Obverse:
Displayed within a circular ring is the Temple of Heaven showing the Hall of Prayers for Abundant Harvest. The design shown with Chinese characters reading on top meaning People's Republic of China. The year of issue „1993” is shown at the bottom.
Reverse:
A single panda relaxes on a single rock looking at bamboo leaves with two bamboo shoots to the left on the rock. The nominal value 50 with the Yuan symbol can be read in front of the head. Chinese characters above this running around external rim display metric purity,.999“ and „Au 1/2 oz.“.
