Obverse:
The obverse shows the Hall of Prayers for Abundant Harvest in the Temple of Heaven. Chinese characters are shown on the top reading "Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo" meaning People's Republic of China. The year of issue „1989“ is shown at the bottom below the Temple design.
Reverse:
The 1989 motif depicts one adult Panda munching on a bamboo twig whilst resting on the left paw. A decorative grid is visible in the background of the coin Showing below the panda motif are Chinese characters for size,”1”, then metric purity „.999“ and a large 100 and Yuan symbol. Below this at base of coin is shown 1 OZ Au“.

A total of 115,187 coins were minted.
